Ibiza /ESP/

We left Cagliari on 19th September after having been there for just under 2 months. All the work on the boat seemed to be completed, so there was nothing keeping us there any longer. We sailed up the West coast of Sardinia to Portoscuso first and spent the night in the marina there. The next morning we pressed on to Oristano where some of Vic’s friends joined us. The five of us set out from Oristano (Torregrande) on 24th September heading for Menorca first. We soon changed our minds and decided to try for Ibiza. The wind wasn’t really doing us any favours, so we had to motor most of the way. We had various problems such as sparks being fired and smoke coming from the engine room, the pump needing a new belt of some sort, sails shredding, a squall and the autopilot being a bit moody. Most of these problems we fixed enroute and some are being fixed now in Ibiza. We arrived to Ibiza after a three day sail around midnight last Friday. One of Vic’s friends (Bryan) left this morning, as he could only stay for a week. The other friend (Jeremy) is staying for another week or so. We plan to leave Ibiza on Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning and go all the way to Gibraltar or Morocco. Ibiza is interesting and rather amusing at times to the odd sober person, but not really my cup of tea so far.

Szűk két hónap után szeptember 19-én elhagytuk Cagliarit. Először letesztelvén a hajón történt munkálatokat északnak mentünk Szardínia partvonala mentén.

  1. Loved your post V 🙂 just spent an hour looking over maps and closely following 🙂 though sometimes you paint an ominous picture like smoke & sparks coming from engine room, etc 😦 btw: did you go around Antioco as there seems to be some navigation issues & shallow seas? Sparks in engine room is never good – especially close to fuel – diesel, right? I once had that problem though with petrol where the mixture screw completed worked its way out due to vibration – add a spark to that & adios 🙂 will email as we’ve just had Katerina Wynne-Hughes visit! will send pics…

Is the engine & stuff properly grounded??? sounds like you have either shorts and/or grounding problems???

    Your bro xox

    1. Hi there Bro,
No we didn’t go to Antioco. The engineers have just left the boat. They’ll be back tomorrow. Yes, the boat runs on diesel.
      xx
